True about the black-on-chrome. I won't bore the lisdt again with the '72 black p13 story when i worked in the shop that never sold any higher than a World Voyager (almost full-polished chrome under the opaque (which we pronounced o-puke) or a Supersport and maybe an occasional Sports Tourer.

Many Paramounts featured 'picking' arounf the lugs and bb shell, similer to lug lining but a more challenging technique, This redeemed the chrome-on-chrome.

Orange had white picking and decals , the creamsicle effect. Picking stopped sometime in the 60's

Perhaps the best exasmple of the Paramount black wass the post-CR 50th anniversary. I ordered a black with that gold plated fork and also a pearl white special 50th track frame with a gold plated track fork. The white/chrome is a pale statement nect to the black

By the time I ordered my wife's Paramount in 1988, chromw lugs were a hefty extra cost. I paid it, because Paramounts with Nervex curlies just don't look right to me unless the lugs are chrome. That contrast of chrome and paint is one of the reasons I have never liked the all-chrome Paramounts as much as the painted ones. Kool Blue is ok, but Opaque green, Chestnut and even Sunset Orange are flavors you can keep, as far as I'm concerned.

I think I'll always pine for my black P13. I just thought that was the classiest color combination. I've grown to like the white one I have now, though. I'd like it even better if I took the time to correct the factory alignment.
