Subject: [CR]Re: Super Champion Mixte rims

OK CR listmembers. I have some Super Champion Mixte rims. They're box-section clincher rims with a dull sand-blasted looking aluminum finish. They have very nice labels -- a shiny red ellipse with gold "SUPER CHAMPION" and a much smaller black "made in France." They're quirky, though. Where most clincher rims have a swollen bead on the inside of the very edge of the rim, the Mixte's have a curved flange that looks kinda like the outermost 3mm or so of a tubular rim. They feel a little heavier than my Mavic MA-2's (I've got a pair of those too). Can anybody tell me anything about these rims? Anyone with experience using them? Most importantly -- do they hang onto a tire OK? Can I build them into wheels and ride them with confidence? Thanks. --- David Faulkner in Sacramento, CA where the mornings are cold and damp, but the afternoons are just made for riding
