Subject: [CR]Colnago dating question (probably OT)

I'm asking here with the fore knowledge that this frame I'm trying to date may well be out of our date range but with Dale's permission I can think of no better place to ask, if anyone can shed any light please reply off-list.

A friend has a Colnago for sale. It has an SLX decal on it but I'm wondering if it's been repainted and re-decaled (it has no seat tube decals other than the tubing decal) it has an old NR style steel Campag headset. The details are: two TT cable guides, FD braze on, I think one set of WB bosses, club in the HT/DT lug, rounded ends for the seatstay caps and they have a club cast in them. BB shell has a club cut-out with COLNAGO spelled out in an arc above the cut out (as you look at the underside of the shell), two clubs cast into the top of the BB shell on either side, and a reinforcing web between the chainstay sockets (so no chainstay bridge). Under BB cable routing. Chrome drive side chainstay with cable stop, horizontal drop-outs. Sloping lugged fork crown, with COLNAGO and the club on the tops, curved stays, full chrome.

An example of the same seatstay cap can be seen at: http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalogs/colnago-88/colnago6.jpg

Anyone care to take a stab at dating this frame? It's from before Colnago went to straight blades on forks (when was that?) and if it really is SLX then it could be from '~85 to ~'93, is my guess. Opinions?

Many thanks for your collective memories and opinions,
