Subject: [CR]Reg actually wanted to race on a Flying Scot!

As Bob Reid can confirm, Reg Harris was mighty taken by the Scot and had Rattrays build one for his wife but they couldn't make use of this for publicity purposes because of Reg's contract with Raleigh. Rumour has it that Reg approached Rattray's to see if they could build him a bike that could be badged as a Raleigh for his competition use. Rattray's told him they didn't want to go that far downmarket. ;-)

I haven't heard Dale's theory about Reg's bikes before but it seems unlikely to me. I can't believe Raleigh wouldn't have been able, considering the resources at their disposal, to build a frame to Reg's exact specification using the best materials and expert craftsmen. Who knows though?
