I have been fascinated by the tandem debate. For what its worth I think several British makers are worthy of mention. Prewar Freddie Grubb, Maurice Selbach, Russ and GA all made world beating tandems. After the war R.O Harrison, F.W.Evans and Hobbs of Barbican were I think our premier tandem builders. I have ridden tandems by all of these makers and have found them to be all of equal quality either being the pilot or stoker. My least favorite tandem was a Claud Butler USWB beautifully made but oh so uncomfortable. A 30 mile spin on this machine felt like a 100 mile ride! I presently own a Philbrook, Russ, GA, R.O.Harrison and a Hobbs Blue Ribband tandem trike.

Best wishes and be lucky. Michael Butler Huntingdon UK.
