Senftleben is actually French. Born in Clamart in 1922, passed away in 1998 in Eze. He raced, apparently only on the track, as a pro from 1942 until 1958. He won numerous French national titles, as well as placing very high in many world championship competitions (2nd in 1946 and 1952 and 3rd in 1947 and 1948). He also won a number of 6-day races.

He must have led a very healthy lifestyle (pun intended for those who are German-speaking) to last that long at a time of great competition on the track.
