All of this talk has now got me wondering what to do with those nice shiny Campagnolo chainsets hanging on the wall of my lock-up. Mick Butler has also got me thinking about the round profile Chater Lea and hollow steel Duprat cranks I have as well. <snip> ------------------------------------- Bruce, being a generous fellow to a fault, I will offer to safely store all those DuPrat cranks and save you worry. I probably need them as replacements, since I've only been using mine for a quarter century, albeit not daily. Besides, I wouldn't want to trouble you or others with the challenges of cotters...
For those who haven't seen them, the DuPrats are built-up, steel, and feature a tapered hollow arm, with cross section smaller than that of the pedal eye. Just lovely beasties. Decades ago, I weighed the right one, it was 3 gm (0.1 ounce) heavier than a TA alloy of the same 5-pin style.
By the way, mine are on a fixed-gear bike...
looking forward to providing you this critical assisstance... :-)
