I don't know whether that is a "shared" dislike. I have both modern ergo and STI and I have friction shifting (rode friction yesterday and today on different bikes). I don't ride bikes without clipless pedals anymore, even at Cirque. Just because the newer stuff is off-topic for this list, I don't think you can categorize it as something that we all dislike. Nicely said. I have tons of respect for the old stuff, but the new stuff has it's advantages also. Not sure about the rest of the world, but I happen to like indoor plumbing, hot water, and instant light.
