Subject: [CR]Red Campy Friction Washer Cover Plate

I have a red campy friction washer cover plate (part 603) on a right hand only SR shifter (part 1013/1) . Says "Brev. Int. Campagnolo". In my, very, limited experience I haven't seen another red cover plate. Is red something unusual? Did they come in other colors besides red?
