Dear listmembers,

Speaking of San Diego, I'd like to mention something that will be of interest to anyone on the list that happens to come to town. There is a new bike shop that has just opened right near my house that is a place everyone should visit. It's called the "Old Bicycle Shoppe and Cafe". Dave Tartano, who also owns Pedal Pushing Bike Shop in midtown, has recently opened a new location that features part of his vast collection of antique thru modern bikes, bicycle art, and vintage toys. It's a wonderful place to stop for coffee and to take in lots of classic bicycles. You might even run into me upon occassion, as I love to drop in for a few minutes and take a breather, have coffee, and hopefully find someone interesting to talk bikes with. Dave is a really friendly and funny guy. He delivers one liners and other jokes almost nonstop. Half the time you don't even know that he's setting you up until suddenly the punchline drops in your lap! It's hilarious. He keeps everyone on their toes.

There will also be regular Sunday rides, in two groups, faster and slower, that will leave from the shop at around 9am every Sunday. If you are in town let me know and we can join the ride. I will probably rotate my Sunday ride, when I am able to get out, between this ride and the "JB" Sunday ride from Rancho San Diego. The next meeting of the SD vintage ride will meet at the Old Bicycle Shop Cafe on the third Sunday in March. Plan to join us if you can. I will post the address and phone number of the shop as soon as I remember to get it from Dave. I'll drop in this afternoon for coffee and get that information.

The Grand Opening is set for March 1st.
