Brain mentioned this about R.Cooper and I am curious if any non-italians have ever apprenticed in Italy.

I know e-Richie and Assenmacher apprenticed over in England although a e-Richie seems to be much more Italian in style and has visited Italy more than once.

Of course, anyone who worked in Carlsbad would have been indoctrinated into the Italian way:)

Also, style has always been confusing to me. Can someone please give me a lay- mans artistic critque of what makes something "Italian, French, or British"?

Is there an American style? What makes a frame a certain style? Lug work is one sure sign to me. What about finish? Design? etc...
