Subject: [CR]Mystery Track Frame - The search ends... (Ian Briggs)

Dear All,

Some of you might recall that I asked the help of the list to ID an unknown 22.5" track / path frame that I had bought cheaply at the Mildenhall Rally some time ago - which had been cheaply resprayed in Colnago livery (but was as unlike a Colnago as a packet of chocolate digestive biscuits)...

I thought it might have been a Holdsworth, or a Putney Claud Butler - but was actually genuinely bemused as to its real provenance.

Mick Butler in Huntingdon was kind enough to offer his assistance and had a look at some jpegs I sent him. He eliminated both the former makes, didn't really know but suggested I contact Mercian because it had the 'look' of one of their frames.

Good call Mick. Last week Grant at Mercian checked my jpegs too and squared off the frame number - and has now confirmed that what I have is one of Mercian's own...

Actually an 1980 frame (it's had a hard life then!) - but a Mercian none the less... Thanks Mick - for the keen eye and taking an interest.

Ian Briggs (still bloody cold in Luton tonight) LUTON - UK.
