To all... I have been converting NR cranks to a "tripple" since the late 70's. I drill, spotface, and tap each crank arm to take a Campy part # 818, "Tripple chainring spacer". I use the BCD for Stronglight 99 chainrings allowing sizes down to 28T. The Chainwheel fastening screw is a Campy # 761, also used for the Track Cranks.

On page # 75 of Campagnolo catalogue n. 17 the layout is shown for the 36T Campy chainwheel. This is a different BCD, however.

Is this standard practice for converting all NR to triple? Or, are several "standard practices" out there? (Ok, linguistic non-sense but, I hope it's understandable)

I own an original equipment campy triple. Into the spider, you screw "5 special bolts and 5 special spacers" as described by bicycle classics. In campy's case, the spacers are actually bolts with enormous round heads that have large shallow alan holes, and within those alan holes, there are deep threads to accept normal nouvo record chainring bolts.

Therefore, to change rings on an NR triple, you are NOT constantly screwing steel bolts into aluminum threads, and back out again. You are actually screwing steel bolts into the steel threads of the alan spacers, and back out again. The alan spacers are screwed into the spider only once.

Durability should beat all contemporary cranks (where you screw steel bolts into aluminum threads), because if the steel-on-steel interface wears out, you can replace the "5 special bolts and 5 special spacers" equipment with brand new ones.
