Greetings campers and quiz contestants

Today's lucky winner will receive a complete set of red, black and orange bands applied to the seattube of his/her choice, a blow to the head, or whatever's behind Door #3.

I believe what you have there Ann is an elusive and reclusive 1969/70 white Raleigh Pro, travelling incognito. Add some Groucho Marx glasses and the deception is nearly perfect.

If the serial number begins with a "D" or "E", everything else falls into place. Oval headbadge, the total absence of chrome, the boring headlugs, the Cinelli style sloping fork crown, the wrap around seat stays, the bridge for the rear brake cable housing stop, AND it's white(-ish). Campy or Zeus dropouts. Poor picture and minimalist specs in the 1969 Raleigh catalog in Retro Raleighs on either Sheldon's or Bulgier's site. Or I can send you some better pics of what it looked like in a previous life. The decals, red headtube, and purple stays on your bike suggest either freedom of expression, or somebody inhaled in the spray booth.

Some components have been changed to protect the innocent. Possible AVA death-stem replacement there. (he said, suddenly re-living long suppressed memories, in super slow-motion.).

Just another page in the yet to be written "Vintage Bikes Field Guide". Larry "Ooooooh thank you. I'll take the blow to the head" Osborn Morgantown WV
