I just received the Feb/March issue of News&Views, a publication of the Veteran-Cycle Club and was surprised to see several event reports from what I believe is the only US based V-CC section. The rides included a rather ambitious 140 mile ride from Boston to P-town spread over two days, a November night ride in Boston (how cold was that!?) plus several other Boston area rides. The participants: Christopher Barbour, Chip Coldwell, Jack Demarest, Scott Embersole, Martin Hanczyc, Bob Williamson, and Chuck Hughes (from whom I purchased a bike last year). A list of the machines includes an 1896 Humber fixed wheel (or fixed gear or fixed whatever), 1973 Raleigh Competition, 1974 Mercian, 1959 Bates Volante, 1957 Macleans, 1955 Lenton Sports, 1970 Falcon, among others. If any Boston area CR list members are interested in joining these gentlemen on their outings, contact me offlist and I can provide contact information for members of this group. It'd be great to see the New England Section have a larger presence in the V-CC, a UK based organization with about 2500 members worldwide which I highly recommend joining. Now we here in soCal and noCal need to establish our own Sections, though I'm not sure the Brits are ready for ride reports from Brian Baylis ;-) Jay Van De Velde Seal Beach,CA
