I don't lament the fact that the Masi in question is "modern", I'm not so retro-grouchy as to disdain such things as ergopower, speedplay, carbon fibre etc. What saddens me about this bike (and saddens is the correct term) is that Masi, once a bike I dreamed of owning, is branded on a nondescript, run of the mill crappy frame. Colnago, De Rosa, Gios and and many other old marques made the transition from lugged steel frames to swoopy carbon fibre modern aluminium without the loss of quality nor the perception of having "fallen".
