Double Binda Extra straps and the last generation Shimano Dura-Ace (or 600) clip pedals and the matching "winged" cleats that lock into the tabs on the front of the pedals..

Maybe just past the time line but anything that gives that much more clearance from a pedal hit is a necessity on a steep track. And I always felt (and that is the most important thing for the rider) that I could never pull out under any circumstance when they were cinched.

Also the modern Toshi single and doublestraps are very good.

I just bought some routine leather straps 2 weeks ago at the Condor shop in London. Plain black straps with very nice buckles, 5 pounds. Supposedly made in Taiwan but the buckles had a cloverleaf like Union.
