They're probably the type that would sit at home rather than go out with a great girl, just because she's homely. Nothing wrong with Mafac cantelevers. They are the only brakes on my tandem and they stip it just fine, even with touring gear. The single version is a little shorter and has a little less leverage, but it will still outstop most any rim brake on the market, especially with modern pads fitted. Put those Mafacs on and grin when you screach to a controlled halt.
