Subject: Fwd: [CR]preserving brake hoods

Something I tried once long ago (pre-CR) out of total ignorance, and a serious dislike for nasties like bleach, acetone, etc, was Goop handcleaner. Not anything with abrasives in it, just the soft white glop. Still a petroleum distilate or some other petroleum based cleaner. (don't fool yourselves kids, even though the "citrus" cleaners smell nice and may be diluted with water, there are still some nasty chemicals in many of them. Ever see what that stuff does to a styrofoam cup overnight? Remember the Wicked Witch of the West when she got wet?"). Doubt that such a treatment adds anything to the life of the hoods, but they cleaned up very nicely with no obvious deterioration. And I could still breath while doing it, AND my skin came out clean, silky smooth, and smelling sweet.
