Thought these current classic cycling titbits from our media might be of interest. Great quote from an old clubman on modern day TIG welded frames. I like ornate lugs true skill the welding on today's models looks like bird-shit on a window-sill, all done by robots! Great piece on Jimmy Michael who raced against Butler, Walthour, MacEachern, Morgan and Elkes and the controversy surrounding his tragic death. Pat Skeats before making his own branded frames worked for Hetchins. Alec Green the Birkenhead lightweight dealer had his frames built by James Fothergill of Liverpool. The Hewitt Bros were another famous Birkenhead frame builder. Across the Mersey in Liverpool were Harry Quinn, Quinn Brothers, Eddie Soens and H.M.Dickenson of Tunnell Road a builder I have never heard of. Finally Wakefields of South london built by Jack Jennings ex Dan Genner employee. All of these were taken from the Fellowship News the magazine of Cycling Old-Timers. Best wishes and be lucky.
