Is a 1979 "Merckx" that was "contract" built by De Rosa less desirable/collectable than a 1980 Merckx that was build in Eddy's "factory"? Uh...not likely.

This issue is very subjective and has many variables. Could probably be discussed ad infinitum, and still come to no universally agreed conclusion.

That's another "variable" as it were. And why this discussion could take many divergent paths. Speculation from a CR enthusiast perspective would probably suggest that, ten years from now, the Mondonico Masi is likely to me more desirable than the Haro Masi. So, yes, there probably is a difference, depending on your perspective and what you are basing your evaluation on.
