Thanks for your reply. I don't know as much as I would like to know about this. I'll do a search for open hearth brazing. Are the Reynolds tubes made now designed to improve when heated? What about 531? Mercian uses a Reynolds 631 now, which I have not heard of before. I am aware that Waterford used a high-temperature silver solder when they made my frame, (853 & True Temper), in order to take advantage of this "heat treating" property.
