I too was interested in the bike as can be attested by Matteo Brandi. I put in a snipe bid for 1011 euros (about $1250) that just missed registering as it was beaten by two others at the exact same time. Had it been my size, I believe I would have been willing to go quite a bit higher. Casati's seem to be little known here in the US. In Italy they have quite a good reputation and should therefore be worthy of collection. The Gold Line model auctioned had beautifully handled internal cables on top of the gold-plated fork and stay ends. The visible workmanship was first rate. The ICS components were not properly described in the auction text and I believe the fact that the seller described the bike as having the 50th anniversary gruppo turned many people off. Many who expected to see the 50th ann. gruppo would quickly take the whole auction description as unreliable when they read it. The ICS components themselves are collectible, but only when properly described as many simply do not recognize them. Whether they are gold or not does not make much difference it would seem to the ICS bits. I believe the same bike in the US with a proper description would bring in something like $1500-1800.
