Thought this might be of interest to anyone of you visiting the United Kingdom. After a four-year multi-million pound refit Coventry Transport Museum is an absolute must see attraction. Coventry might not appear to be the ideal tourist attraction but you should really think again about visiting this interesting city. The city was the hub of Britain's motor industry, ever since the Daimler Motor Company began making cars in an old cotton mill in 1896. It was also home to 111 motorcycle makers, 136 car and commercial vehicle manufactures, as well as 271 CYCLE MAKERS. Plenty to offer the transport nut. This collection was started in the 1930's by the well known cyclist and motoring enthusiasts Horace Wilton "Sammy" Bartleet. Who was a member of the famous Bath Road cycling club.
>From April 1st there will be the added attraction of a "Sporting Speeds" exhibition followed some time later by a Rover Centenary celebration. Coventry was the birthplace of Britain's Bicycle, Car and Motorcycle industry and this museum reflects the proud heritage of this city. There are on display 240 cars, 94 motorcycles and more than 200 bicycles. Best wishes and be lucky. Michael Butler Huntingdon UK.
