He was actually born Italian in the town of Santa Domenica di Albona in Southern Italy. He became a naturalized French citizen on the 23rd of June 1939. You could try in the registrar's office in the town where he was born, as emigrants need to register their departure from Italy, but this is fraught with bureaucratic redtape and rarely ever leads to anything. Another source would be to contact the UCI or the French cycling association as they both apparently have contact details for a very small number of old pros. There are only two telephone listings for Fachleitner in France, both are listed under the name Jacqueline, so you might try one of them, they are both in the Provence area of France, which would seem logical as he raced mainly in the Southern area of France.
