Mike,

No fist-a-cuffs at Masi in the old days. There were a few "underground" fireworks between Mario and Faliero in that when Faliero was there he was in charge and Mario just did as he was told. When Faliero had to go back to Italy and Mario was then in charge, Mario would say that the old man didn't know what he was doing. Two people did quit, both of whom were being groomed to do brazing; those two being Jim Adney (aka "Mr. Wizard", the eventual namesake of Wizard Cycles) and Mike Howard, my partner in Wizard Cycles. Both of them quit because Mario was hard to work with. Mike actually left in a huff in the middle of the day because Mario was giving him a hard time about something to do with forks and the twin plate crowns. I think the parts were "floating around a bit" because of the way the whole thing went together. Shortly after that the twin plate crown was abandoned, technically for the second time, since the Italians had already offed them to the Carlsbad factory. At least that's what I heard. They were/are a pain to put together. They should have done what I do when I use them, which is braze the top plate to the steerer before trying to put everything in the fixture to build the fork. A simple sub-assembly step would have solved the problem.

ooh, that would be fun to watch. I think giving each builder the same components and having a "build off" would be fun too. I think the frame(s) should either go to Dale or maybe auctioned off with the proceeds going to a local charity of Dale's choice. Maybe we could call it a "Baysachsavale"? Who can do the decals?
