Chuck,

Jim Adney came to Masi from Madison, WI where he worked for The Yellow Jersey bike co-op. He was the second American hired I believe, right after Ron Smith, the original painter. Jim had a masters degree in physics. He seemed to know the answers to lots of questions, as you can imagine. We began to call him "Mr. Wizard" for fun. He left a while before Mike and I did. But he was a really cool guy and we liked him a lot. He was never part of the plan for Wizard Cycles, but the name was hanging in the air, so we adopted it for our company. It made more sense than trying to name the company after ourselves.

That's the poop.

More info! Why did you and Mike name your business after Jim Adney? Was he going to be a partner too?
