My tanks are due to Mick Butler & Mike Waite have been v.helpful to me in my quest so far...
Mick has just written here regarding the possible links between two Holland marques - one of them in Orpington (Kent) whilst Mike wrote to me off-list to say that he had once owned a J Holland from new in 1951/52 and that he recalls that it came from south-east London, maybe Bermondsey or thereabouts.
Bermondsey and Orpington are not a million miles apart - so I'm making some progress.
Mike also says that his bike had J A Holland in 'script' on the downtube - rather than the serif-blocks* that I remember seeing on the e-bay offering some while ago...
*Box-lined with tapered ends to the box.
Anyone else out there got more info please?
