Hey , as a matter of fact , it used to be a standard category in , "The Guinness Book Of World Records" . Perhaps it is still listed in the latest editions . Look under Sports , then under Cycling . I can't recall what term they used for this activity . It was not called "track-stand" , nor "balancing" .

By the way , I've never been any good at it . But they tell me that having your feet in the toe-clips , or having your cleats clicked into the clipless pedals , actually helps you to maintain your balance . Of course , if , or when , you lose your balance , having your feet firmly attached to the pedals makes you look kind of silly . :^)

Oh , and the record for greatest length of time requires rules such as ; how far may the rider travel forward / backward ( one meter each direction ? less ? ) , and what about short rests to relieve the bladder ? The record is quite a few hours .

This discussion of the possibility of a trackstand competition at Cirque has me wondering, is there anything like a record for duration of a trackstand? I find I'd like to try it, but I am just too lazy to swap out my pedals, and I'll be darned if I'm going to try it clipped in! Intimidated in Lansing, Mi, Tom Sanders
