In the early 1980s he was a regular at the Rose Bowl training race (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 32 miles, held continuously since the late 1930s). Very friendly and personable guy, and well liked amongst the regulars. Very skillful at trick riding (learned from BMX I think). I think he lived in the San Fernando Valley back then.
