Dave Steed also raced in the Los Angeles area for at least a year and then went on to set the record. I remember him telling me about it a year later. He was a good guy. You always wonder what's happened to guys like him. Guess one of us will have to Google him. David Brinton, a US Olympic pursuiter, could also do a lot of tricks and has done many of the Hollywood stunt scenes. He used to drive you crazy but riding with his front tire rubbing against you rear tire and he could flick a piece of trash off to the side of the road with his front tire. And he often used to ride backwards in the parking lot of the Tuesday/Thursday Rose Bowl ride.
If anyone comes up with a source of colored Velox plugs, I'd like to know. I always have a card of the black ones hanging around. I usually sell all of them at each San Diego Velodrome swap meet.
