Subject: [CR]cable housing what's best?

I have read sheldon's browns website on bicycle cabling.

I have some high-quality 1970's 10-speeds and i'm selecting new housing and cabling for these bikes. And yes, I have 20 feet of totally vintage 1970 housing, in white, that's been sitting in my toolbox for 25 years. This stuff is ~ 95% correct - it just doesn't have the ribs that the original Clarks housings had.

I also have some barcon shifters for some of these bikes, and at least 2 sets of barcon stainless housing, however, I feel that housing, especially for brakes, is a safety issue and I'd like to install more durable and lower-friction modern technology if it's available.

So I'm looking at teflon-lined housing and SIS-type shifting housing, and also looking at specialty cabling.

Todd Kuzma at Heron uses stainless steel, die-drawn cables. Can someone quote me a brand or which distributor to order this through?

1. As to campagnolo, are there any advantages to getting a $35 (ouch) set of modern campagnolo cables for my nuovo record equipment?

2. Should I get SIS-type cabling for my gears, and stainless coil cabling for my brakes? Can I get rid of the word "SIS" on these cables?

3. Please recommend some cable brands, or housing brands, thanx.

4. How do I avoid accidentally buying some heavy-duty large-diameter mountain-bike stuff that won't fit through my braze-ons or brake cable clips?

Thanx in advance,
