If you want period correct the platform-type Lyotard Marcel Berthet is probably the best bet. A really great wide quill-type pedal is the TA road pedal. I replaced Lyotard 45D's on a 1972 Follis with these and they are much wider. However, while the TA pedals have been around a long time, I'm not sure they were available in the 60's.
