Anne: Your questions touch on perennial topics. I understand how extended discussion can drift "Off List". May I ask that you and those who reply to you take special effort to keep this discussion On List as much as possible. Or, just "cc" me ! : )

I will hopefully be acquiring one of my top 3 wanted bikes soon and it looks like decals are going to be an issue.

Its a British bike and while Nick at Lloyds will have some of the transfers available, I might have to have other transfers recreated from photos by someone like Mary at Pfeiffer Pframes. That is ok, but apparently she works in thin vinyl sticker material. Would it be ok to have a mix of waterslide and vinyl decals? If the bike is clear coated over the decals will it be obvious that some are decals and some transfers?

Also it looks like some chrome work will need to be redone. Again, after searching the archives, I still have questions about the process. It sounds complex and possibly like it might damage the frame. Any experience or opinions anyone wants to share about restoring chrome as part of a paint job?
