Subject: [CR]Second Annual DC Area Pre-Cirque Ride and Tea Party

Today is probably not the best day to announce this but, no foolin', it's real and official. Some may recall that the ride part got sort-of rained-out last year, but the "tea" party part went on and was fun anyway.

Here are the details:

Second Annual Pre-Cirque Classic Tune-Up Ride and Tea Party Sunday, April 18th - 10:00 AM My House - Falls Church, VA

Here's a chance to do a "shake-down" run on that vintage ride you've just slapped together for the Cirque (oh wait, that's me - yet again). Everyone is welcome, and welcome to ride whatever, but "Cirque-bound" bikes are strongly encouraged. We'll gather at my house in West Falls Church, and do an easy 25-or-so miler. We should be prepared to roll out by 10:30. The W&OD bike trail is literally at the end of my street. We will most likely use the bike trail for about 6 miles, and then depart for a loop of the gently rolling back roads of Reston, ultimately returning to my house via the same bike trail. This loop is certainly manageable on a fixed-gear, but there are still a few hills in Reston, so be forewarned.

There is an option for a lunch stop at a noodle shop in Vienna, if the crowd desires. There will be a post ride gathering on the deck at my house, where the Tea Party will take place. Other libations (besides tea) and snacks will also be available. A tour of the basement shop/bike gallery is always in the offing, and the garage has gotten pretty full as well. I might even be able to come up with a few "door prizes" again. As before, criteria for this remains elusive, so we'll just have to see what happens.

My house is in West Falls Church, just inside the intersection of the Beltway and Rt. 66, about 3 miles East of Vienna on the bike trail and two miles from the West Falls Church metro station. Contact me off list for specific directions. Please let me know if you plan to attend, so I can prepare accordingly. Let's hope the weather cooperates, but it is Springtime in Washington, after all, so you just never know. (It didn't feel much like Spring this morning!)

Anyway, come on out. It's the perfect opportunity to prep for the REAL East coast extravaganza two weeks later!

Ciao -
