Subject: [CR]De Rosa - wheel wear and correct components

Thought I'd tackle both De Rosa questions in one post, and it's interesting right now because I'm in the middle of building up a mid 80's De Rosa which I'll be hauling to the Cirque as my primary rider. Mine's a repaint, so I'm not too particular, but I'm building it up with first gen C-Rec and Delta calipers. I think C-Rec is just about perfect for this era De Rosa. They're nice with S-Rec, but it was just sort of the pinnacle of the moment with C-Rec, which is what was just showing up in the catalogs.

On the wheel wear issue, I agree that it's hard to judge mileage that way, or any way, in an eBay auction, but I suspect that those wheels have a fairly high tension on the spokes, which contributes to the wear you see. I do like that particular paint scheme though, Lou. Suspect that the frame is from mid 80's, much like the one I'm working on.
