All the early SSC equipped bikes I saw (maybe 5 or 6 total) had Simplex seat posts. The later Mavic group (w/the 631 crankset "showcased" by G. Lemond) did include a Mavic seatpost (I have only seen these in black) but these had a clamp which also resembled Simplex posts from the same era.
