going through a box of bits (long buried and forgotten!) the other day I came across what appears to be a NOS chrome headclip for a 1" steerer tube, what's unusual is that it has bearing races that are pressed into a standard headtube in the normal fashion but the top is of the older headclip style...........all the parts appear to be complete and from the same manufacturer making me think that it's not a "hybrid" concoction, my question to all you knowledgeable types is what sort of period would this be from and is this a rarity or were they common place, indeed is there a name for this type of headclip? all that I can remember when I acquired it I was told it was probably French but there are no markings to distinguish it................can supply photo's if interested, regards Griff King-Spooner (London UK)
