Subject: [CR]Peugeot Model Identification?

Greetings to all,

My name is Kim Buckley and I live in Holland, Michigan. As I was attempting to identify one of my bikes recently, I came across your group list and was so impressed with the knowledge and passion I decided to join and see what I could learn.

When compared to most of the postings I've read, I readily admit to being a complete newbie, so I apologize in advance for all the stupid questions I'm sure to ask in the future. I'm of the age that I was part of the "10 speed" rage of the early 70's. Doing my part, I purchased a Spanish brand, whose name I no longer remember, as well as a Batavus. The Spanish bike is lost to posterity. The Batavus intercycle Tour de l'Europe took me on a road trip of about 300 miles to Traverse City, Michigan in the early 70's. It sat in storage from about 1975 until recently when I pulled it out to ride occasionally. The bike is in great shape...all original except the tires.

My other bike is a Peugeot, also of early 70's vintage. It was originally purchased by a relative, who rode it infrequently into the late 70's. It was given to me and sat in storage until yesterday, when I pulled it out in response to a comment from my son who said he wanted to move from his mountain bike to a road bike. With what is likely all original equipment, this Peugeot is also in great shape. The plastic on the brake cable is split in a couple of places. Other than grime, that's about about all I can see that needs attention. But before we get this road ready, I am hoping to get some help with model identification. I'll list some information below, for anyone who is knowledgeable and willing to assist:

Serial Number: 2579401 Frame Material: Reynolds 531 Inoxydable Brakes: Mafac "Racer" Front Derailer: Simplex Super Competition Rear Derailer: Simplex Prestige Seat: Brooks Professional Seat post: Simplex Hubs: Normandy Luxe Competition Rims: Mavic Pedals: Lyotard Crankset: Stronglight Stem: 3 ttt Clips: Christophe Straps: Lapize

Thanks,

Kim Buckley
