Don't take out the dustcovers. It's very easy to damage them, and there's no benefit to removing them. You can take a bit of paper towel and curl it in there to clean everything out. You'll need to do it several times but eventually the towel will come out clean. Then regrease and reassemble. No damage to the fragile covers.
