The only thing questionable about me is if I'm going to let Ray drag me off to 3 gap today to go climbing. Yes, on modern equipment. I'm fond of my knees and would like to use them again soon.

Seriously though - I brought the whole picture thing up because I really didn't know if I'd committed a big vintage bicycle faux pas in randomly photographing people's bicycles based on the reaction of that particular individual. I don't remember anyone running around with photo releases at Cirque 03, I've never had anyone object before and I'm pleased to say that everyone else has been very encouraging about me taking pictures of their bikes. While I don't think that my photography skills even come close to some of yours, I'm learning and I suspect by Cirque 05 I'll be much better. I think that if people don't want their bicycles or selves possibly photographed at an event like Cirque - they ought to stay home. Cirque is an opportunity for people to socialize as well as engage in commerce based around our collective hobby and photography is one way to enjoy the event. My only photography based objection is that the lighting is terrible in the gym and wouldn't all those bicycles look much better outside in the sun?

Back to vintage bikes...

I'm getting ready to get my Claud Butler Torino repainted. This is fun because the British seemed to be pretty adventurous when it comes to color and metallics and the Torino was paint to order originally so there isn't much I can do wrong. I'm curious as to how glossy their clear coats were in the 1960s?

I wish I had a way to patina bike paint jobs that didn't border on abuse. I'm thinking since the Torino has very few NOS parts and mostly nice used things it would be fun if the paint matched the parts condition. Sadly, it had been carefully painted with a red applied by a brush so there isn't any clean up potential at all.
