Dear members:
Sadly, I had to remove a CR member from our "club" tonight and I want to say it was not an easy or happy thing to do. Recent days have found me a bit over worked and inattentive and I have glimpsed a few exchanges that push the limits of what I expect in all messages in the CR list, that of being civil, non-argumentative exchanges at all times.
I hope my laxity, not being more vigilant, did not cause this removed member to think that no-hold-barred was acceptable.
Just in case some of you (newbies?) do not understand, let me be as clear as possible... I will not allow exchanges or messages that even hint at being attacks, or denigration, contain profane, or obscenities.
We have readers from varying cultural backgrounds, from around the world, young and old, male and female and I want all to feel that the atmosphere on the CR list is polite and where members are considerate of one another. To carry it even further, I would be extremely upset (and act out accordingly) if a member attacked another member OFF LIST if the original contact or reference was from the CR list. If a member cannot behave properly, I will remove them ASAP.
Newer members will not know about earlier events where challenges were brought against this and other policies I have in place. But there were skirmishes! I must again remind everyone that the CR list and it's operation is not a democracy, that this is not a public forum in which anyone has ownership other than myself (and maybe Alex who allows me to use his service.) It is a benevolent dictatorship! I know that galls a few folk, but that's the way it is.
Thanks to the very cooperative and decent huge majority of CR members many of whom have become my very dearest friends. Let's rededicate ourselves to getting along, and even going out of our way to be decent to one another!
