As I said in my last post, enough of this and back to bikes. My original point was that the European manufacturers had not embraced affordable cars for the working class to the extent that Ford did in America. The relevant connection was that this resulted in contunued bicycle use and bicycle culture in Europe, even though these were fading in the US. VW would be a demonstration of my point whether it was a scam or whether it was legitimate and the prodcution was merely preempted by the war. Which was the case is a discussion that can be held offlist.
