Subject: [CR]Old track bike pics and questions

I've finally had the time to take a couple pics of the old track bike I picked up on ebay. It was mentioned a little here, but the listers pictures were not very good. So here are the pics, and the questions follow.

I'm not very familiar with bikes this old, I'm thinking it's 1930's ? I seem to recall seeing these lugs before, but can't recall where. The front hub is a Schwinn script hub, and the back a Bayliss-Wiley. The chainset is a Williams, and the date on the chainring is 1937. The only serial number is on the back of the fork, 2644P.

So is there any idea who may have made it?

I think the handlebars and nickle plated fork aren't original, and that this was a bike for motorpacing. I had a link to some old motorpacing photos, But can't find it now. If I recall it right, the bikes had the same sort of reinforcement at the bottom of the headset, and a straight fork, to get the front wheel in closer. Would this be about right?

I think I want to restore this one, rather than just clean it up. The paint is pretty much like on the head tube, worse in spots on the tubes, where it isn't staying on anymore. I'd appreciate some thoughts on this.

Lastly, I need a pedal, or set of pedals like in the last picture. Preferably a nice looking set of them.

Thanks,
Steve Birmingham
