No, Dale.. you're confusing your wheels with your roads!

the title you were thinking of was probably " La ROUTE d'Or " or maybe "La ROUTE a l'Or"

Vitus and other manufacturers of generic , for want of a better word, frames ie those frames that couldn't possibly be mistaken for anything other than what they were - TVT the all-conquering carbon frame of the late 80/early 90s was another example - used to leave the down tubes free of decals expressly so that other manufacturers and/or retailers could stick on their transfers. if you look at such frames the main decal identifying the maker is always on the top tube. In the 1992 (so ..sorry this is a little out-of-List time) twelve of tghe first twenty riders in the GC of the T-d-F road TVTs, but they carried a variety of makers' transfers incluing Colnago, and GIOS.
