Greetings All

As my bike renovation proceeds I have at last reached the stage of having it painted. Assembly is not far away and the one thing I am missing is green cloth handlebar tape suitable for this 1946 Road Racing Machine. Any inspired ideas or leads out there? Thanks Alistair Johnston White Rock, BC

Shameless plug, but if you are into to French Bicycles, these are worth looking at. I tried to do good photos, but I cannot do the wheels justice. The quality of engineering in the hubs is fantastic. I would love to have ridden the

bike that these came from.

David Allen sent me the above link to update the listing for Viking in the used bike buyers guide. The only thing I had in the guide was a note about Viking ending up in Londenerry Northern Ireland. The item mentioned below went to a "cochecton" (one of us?) for =A3525.

This 1962 frame would have been from the Hurlow era, judging from the info in this thread, but would it necessarily have been built by him? Who else might have been working in the shop at the time besides Conway and Monte Young? When exactly did Board come aboard :-), and where did he go when he left?

They don't mention Harry Quinn. Did he get involved with Viking only after the sale and move to Londonderry? Yet some on the frames from the early/mid 60's show the almost straight fork blades often associated with Quinn.

I am looking for a new or excellent-condition used Unicanitor #55--the plain plastic one with no cover; 3 hole or many holes. Will pay reasonable price. Thanks David Feldman Vancouver, WA

Pic of the Day 14th June Giovanni Corriere, 1949 Tour de France =20

Large picture of Bartali's teammate, sprinter Giovanni Corriere, at the = 1949 Tour de France. Note the odd way he is wearing the spare around = his shoulders and neck. Also note the "Bartali" brakeset with gum hood = covers, Cervino rear shifter w/tension arm used with Simplex front = derailleur, short areas of chrome (less than 3 inches!) on the forks and = stays. Click on picture for larger view.

In this month's Cyclesport, there is an article on Saronni which has a cool shot of Saronni and Moser racing in the late seventies (if I remember correctly).

Moser is riding a "Moser" badged bicycle.
