You can improve shifting of SIS derailers in friction by swapping top and bottom pulleys. The top pulley "floats" so in friction you can sort of be in gear until you really mash, then it jumps. Hyperglide cogs make this even worse, since they want to shift anyway. Mavic cogs lack the ramps and other hoo-ha, good for friction 9/10 speed.
