IRC makes a good line of wide tires, and they're NOT blackwall either- natural/skin/tan/ however you want to describe it:

Metro 700x35 tan Tandem 700x30 tan (kevlar BELT version too) Duro tour (blackwall though)

Ya gotta have big meats to put down the horsepower. I've got a couple of bikes shod with Panaracer Paselas in 35mm, and like them fine. Harris Cyclery (Sheldon Brown) has them listed in both the 35 mm and a whopping 37mm size, but I can't say I've ever seen a pair of the 37s.

These are touring style tires, with extra toughness built in, not a racing design. However they seem to corner fairly well, roll fast and are reasonably light. The ride is extra plush. I run them at 110+ PSI on the tandem. Most other tires I've seen this wide are lower pressure city tires.

Beware, though, many quick releases don't open wide enough to accommodate a 35 mm tire, especially when mounted on a narrower rim.

Anyone know if there ever existed, wide (35-40mm) truly high quality lightweight tires for 700c size wheels? Or have the only high quality fat tires been made for 650b wheels?
