Subject: [CR]A set of wheels too beautiful to tear apart...on the horns of a dellema...My apologies for the length of this posting.

I have been mining a few really great collections and buying some very cool components in the last couple of weeks. Recently one of my sources told me had two sets of 32 hole C Record high flange hubs that were built into wheels. He described the more expensive of the two wheel sets and a buddy wanted the fancy ones so I bought both pair, one for him, one for me. I expected mine to be that God awful old brown anodized stuff I can't stand (sorry all you brown anodized fans). Upon unpacking my set of wheels I encountered one of the most beautiful wheel sets imaginable.
Campy tubular Sigma Pave Chromium aluminum rims with these beautiful double butted spokes and an absolutely mint set of the beloved HF hubs. Beautiful light blue Campy labels on the rims...a sight to behold. They are so pretty you could hang them as wall art. These are the ones that Campy figured out how to actually chrome plate, I am told, and they only built them for a short while due to the expense. You won't see many of these beauties! I looked at them and knew I could never tear them apart for the hubs. I also have no intention of riding tubulars, although I have come into a large quantity of very high quality ones in the very same deal. I'll offer the tires to the list soon, if a couple of my regular dealing partners don't want them. Now to the heart of the matter. I love the hubs. I simply cannot justify vandalizing these wheels to get at them. I am going to make someone an offer that hopefully will be difficult to refuse. I am going to disregard the obvious high value of these wheels and offer to send them to anyone who will send me a mint or NOS set of 32 or 36 hole C Record hubs, no 28 hole ones will be considered. They deserve to be ridden or owned by someone who will love them, and not butcher them as I would. Please reply off list if interested. Tom Sanders Lansing, Mi
