My question is about the 980 derailleur - I hope this

is not wandering too far off timeline.... I've got one

NOS in the box, but it does not look quite like this

one - mine lacks the 980 engraving and the 'fluting'.

I think the limit screws are also different - i'll

have to check mine tonight. So I guess there were

multiple versions of this beast - which came first?

The 980 without engraving is rarer than rare. Only the common people ride and use NR and SR. The style the grace the elegance, the lack of function are hard to equal.

With a 980 and twelve bucks you could by a cup of coffee in Switzerland and only owe for the tip.

Put that baby up on Ebay and retire early from that dead end job that is just a substitute for a cluttered troll like bike shop existence.
